Cookie Policy

Effective date: August 26, 2026 · Last updated: August 26, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how FLY Yachts (“we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://flyyachts.com (the “Site”), what your choices are, and how those choices are honored. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. We also use related technologies: localStorage (small data stored by your browser), pixels/tags (tiny requests used for measurement), and session identifiers. In this Policy we call all of these “cookies.”

Your consent controls them

On your first visit, a banner asks for your choice. Non-essential cookies are off until you allow them. You can change your mind at any time via “Cookie settings” in the Site footer — choose Accept all, Reject all, or per-category preferences. Your choice is stored on your device (key: fy:cookie-consent) so we can honor it on return visits.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends the GPC signal, we automatically set your preferences to necessary-only — which also serves as an opt-out of “sale,” “sharing,” and targeted advertising through cookies under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other state laws that recognize universal opt-out signals. Where our tags support it, Google tags run in consent mode and remain in a denied state for analytics and advertising storage until you allow those categories.

The categories we use

1. Strictly necessary (always on)

Required for the Site to function; the law does not require consent for these. Examples: WordPress session and security cookies (e.g. wordpress_*, wp-settings-* for logged-in team members), anti-spam and rate-limiting protections on forms, the cookie-consent record itself, and localStorage that powers core features you invoke — saved yachts, comparisons, and recent searches.

2. Functional

Remember preferences (filters, language, recently viewed listings) and power convenience features like embedded video players and live-chat, if enabled. Off until you allow them.

3. Analytics

Help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Technologies we use when allowed: Google Analytics (cookies such as _ga, _ga_*) via Google Site Kit, and Hotjar session experience analytics (cookies beginning _hj). Reporting is aggregated; IP addresses are truncated or processed per those providers’ policies. Off until you allow them; if you later reject analytics, we expire Hotjar cookies and instruct Google tags to deny analytics storage.

4. Marketing

Used to measure our advertising and show you relevant content on other platforms (for example Google and social networks where we advertise), through pixels and advertising cookies set by those platforms. Under some state privacy laws this activity is “sharing” or “targeted advertising,” and rejecting this category (or sending GPC) is your opt-out. Off until you allow them.

How long do cookies last?

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies range from hours to about two years depending on the provider (for example, _ga up to 2 years; _hj cookies up to 1 year; the consent record persists until you clear it or change your choice). You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in settings (look for Privacy or Site Data). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Site — saved yachts, comparisons, and forms may stop working. Useful opt-outs: Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and the self-service ad-preference tools operated by Google and by the social platforms you use.

State privacy rights

Cookie-based advertising disclosures can constitute a “sale,” “share,” or “targeted advertising” under state privacy laws. Your opt-outs: Cookie settings → Reject all (or turn Marketing off), or enable GPC in your browser. Full details, including all rights available in your state and how to exercise them, are in our Privacy Policy.
