Our Thoughts

Our Take

The 2022 Fountaine Pajot MY6 is a 50.58-foot catamaran that delivers the space, stability, and cruising capability typically reserved for much larger monohulls—all while maintaining the fuel efficiency and shallow-draft practicality that makes long-range exploration genuinely accessible. At 21.58 feet of beam with a 4.25-foot draft, this catamaran offers the kind of interior volume and outdoor entertaining space that would require a 68-foot monohull to match, yet operates with significantly lower fuel consumption and the motion-dampening advantages of twin hulls.

Layout & Living Space

Four full staterooms define the accommodation plan. The master cabin spans the entire port side, offering exceptional privacy and comfort. A VIP stateroom occupies the starboard aft, while a V-berth forward and a fourth cabin with direct main-deck access round out the sleeping quarters. The main deck features an on-deck galley with full-size stand-up refrigerator, paired with an open-concept saloon that delivers 360-degree visibility and creates a sense of space that transforms everyday cruising into a social experience. The twin-hull design provides inherent stability that makes rough-water passages notably more comfortable for sensitive guests.

The flybridge extends the entertaining footprint with a built-in grill and refrigerator, offering command-center visibility during operations while creating an outdoor social hub. Forward, the bow area provides generous storage and serves as a natural destination lounge. The aft cockpit features a long transom sofa and open dance floor adjacent to the spiral staircase, flowing directly onto a hydraulic platform that simplifies tender deployment and water access for diving or casual swimming.

Systems & Comfort

Volvo propulsion delivers a 24-knot cruising speed with a 30-knot maximum, supported by a 534-gallon fuel capacity that makes extended-range cruising realistic. The 200-gallon water capacity is augmented by an Aquamatic watermaker for true independence. Tropical air conditioning (60,000 BTU capacity) maintains comfort in warm climates, while a Northern Lights 12kW generator (535 hours) provides reliable power generation. A Splendid washer-dryer handles laundry underway, and an Aquamatic watermaker ensures fresh water for extended passages.

Electronics & Navigation

Garmin systems anchor the navigation suite, with cockpit and engine-room cameras providing operational visibility and security monitoring. An Airmar 220wx weather station feeds real-time conditions to the helm. FLIR M364C stabilized thermal imaging adds advanced situational awareness, while Peplink WiFi and satellite communication (including Starlink) ensure connectivity regardless of location. Garmin transducers integrated into the Highfield GT360 30 HP Yamaha tender support fishfinding and navigation.

Exterior & Tender

The Highfield GT360 tender with 30 HP Yamaha power represents serious auxiliary capability, fitted with underwater lights and Garmin transducers for both exploration and fishing. Eight underwater lights throughout the vessel create dramatic nighttime ambiance. A 100-pound Ultra Marine anchor with 200 feet of chain and 150 feet of rode provides secure holding, while an 8-person Plastimo life raft meets safety requirements for extended offshore work.

Condition & Upgrades

An extended Volvo warranty through July 2027 provides additional confidence in the propulsion package. The bottom was painted in September 2025. Throughout the vessel, thoughtful upgrades reflect cru

The boat has sailed the Bahamas and locally in Miami for day trips, overnighters and has never been chartered. What's obvious is that you get 4 staterooms but what's not obvious is that you don't see that on a monohull until you reach about 68'. The main deck boasts an on-deck galley with a full size stand up refrigerator and an open concept saloon which gives you 360 degree views that not only makes the beamy space feel larger, but in combination with the stability from 2 hulls, makes it near impossible to get seasick for sensitive guests. The flybridge with the grill and refrigerator make entertaining seamless. Operating from the bridge of course gives you greater visibility when operating and improves communication with your mate. The forward bow area is a lovely destination with more storage than you know what to do with. The aft cockpit boasts a long outdoor sofa in front of the transom and a dance floor just next to the spiral staircase. The hydraulic platform allows for the seamless retrieval of the tender and a stairway into the water for diving or hanging out. The master cabin stretches the entire port side of the vessel, with a VIP on the starboard aft and a V-berth forward. The 4th cabin is forward with a step down on the main deck.

2022 Fountaine Pajot MY6: A 50-Foot Catamaran Motor Yacht for Luxury Cruising and Entertaining in South Florida
Overview
The 2022 Fountaine Pajot MY6 represents a distinctive approach to mid-size motor yacht design, combining the beam, stability, and interior volume of a catamaran platform with the long-range cruising capability and entertaining spaces that appeal to serious boat owners. At 50.58 feet in length with a 21.58-foot beam, this French-built motor catamaran delivers the kind of spacious four-stateroom layout typically found on monohulls 18 feet longer, while maintaining the shallow 4.25-foot draft and fuel efficiency that define the MY6 class. Located in Miami Beach, Florida, this 2022 model benefits from an extended Volvo Penta warranty through July 2027 and carries an impressive roster of upgrades spanning navigation, entertainment, water systems, and outdoor amenities that elevate it well beyond the factory baseline. The Fountaine Pajot MY6 is engineered for owners who prioritize stability, interior space, and economical long-range cruising over raw speed. With a cruising speed of 24 knots and a maximum speed of 30 knots, the yacht balances performance with fuel efficiency—a critical consideration for extended passages through the Bahamas and Caribbean . The 534-gallon fuel capacity and 200-gallon water capacity are sized for extended cruising without constant refueling stops, while the catamaran's twin-hull design and inherent stability create an experience that appeals equally to seasoned mariners and guests sensitive to motion.
Layout and Deck Design
What distinguishes the Fountaine Pajot MY6 in the market is its four-stateroom interior volume compressed into a 50-foot length—a spatial efficiency that typically requires a much larger monohull. The main deck features an open-concept saloon with 360-degree views, a layout that maximizes natural light and sightlines while the catamaran's beam creates an unusually wide interior that never feels cramped. The on-deck galley includes a full-size stand-up refrigerator, positioning meal preparation and entertaining within the social flow of the salon rather than isolated below. The master cabin spans the entire port side of the vessel, providing a private owner's suite with generous proportions. The starboard aft cabin serves as a VIP stateroom, while a V-berth forward and a fourth cabin with step-down access from the main deck complete the accommodation plan. This configuration supports both family cruising and the hosting of guests, with each cabin offering distinct privacy and comfort. Topside, the flybridge serves as the yacht's entertainment hub, featuring a grill and refrigerator that make outdoor entertaining and casual dining seamless without requiring trips below to the galley. The forward bow area provides a destination-quality seating space with abundant storage, ideal for daytime cruising and anchoring out. The aft cockpit features a long outdoor sofa positioned in front of the transom, complemented by an open dance floor adjacent to the spiral staircase—a design that transforms the stern into a social gathering space for entertaining. The hydraulic platform at the transom enables effortless tender deployment and retrieval, while a built-in stairway provides direct water access for diving, swimming, or casual water activities.
Helm and Electronics
The bridge provides elevated visibility and command of the vessel, improving operational awareness and crew communication compared to lower helm stations on smaller yachts. The electronics suite reflects a modern, integrated approach to navigation and vessel management, anchored by Garmin systems throughout the boat. Cockpit and engine room camera systems, powered by Garmin, provide real-time visual feedback for docking, maneuvering, and engine monitoring without leaving the helm. An Airmar 220wx weather station delivers real-time meteorological data directly to the navigation display, supporting passage planning and weather routing. The Peplink wifi and satellite communication system, combined with Starlink connectivity, ensures reliable communication and internet access even in remote cruising grounds where traditional cellular coverage is unavailable. This infrastructure is increasingly essential for modern cruising, enabling weather downloads, email, and emergency communication independent of shore-based networks. The FLIR M364C stabilized thermal imaging camera represents a premium addition, offering night-vision capability and thermal anomaly detection useful for navigation in low-light conditions and identifying other vessels or navigation hazards.
Comfort and Onboard Systems
The Fountaine Pajot MY6 prioritizes comfort and livability for extended cruising through thoughtful environmental and convenience systems. Tropical air conditioning rated at 60,000 BTU maintains comfortable cabin temperatures across the four staterooms and main saloon, essential for cruising in warm-water destinations. The Aquamatic watermaker produces fresh water from seawater, reducing dependence on shore-based water supplies and supporting extended passages and anchorages. A washer and dryer combination unit eliminates the need for shore services during longer cruises, supporting the practical reality of extended liveaboard and cruising schedules. The audio and entertainment systems have been upgraded with a stereo installation, complemented by dual 40-inch 4K televisions with Apple TV integration—one in the main saloon and one in the master cabin. These allow guests and crew to enjoy entertainment during downtime while maintaining the flexibility of streaming services. Flexiteak flooring in the showers and flybridge provides non-skid safety, authentic teak aesthetics, and easier maintenance than traditional teak. Custom woven vinyl floormats throughout the yacht protect the underlying surfaces while adding a personalized touch. Custom seat covers extend the life of upholstery and allow for design continuity across the vessel. Lighting has been enhanced with eight underwater lights, creating dramatic ambiance during evening entertaining and providing practical illumination for water activities and tender operations. Additional power outlets with USB charging stations in the bathrooms, fourth cabin, galley, cockpit, and flybridge reflect the reality of modern cruising, where devices require constant charging and connectivity is essential.
Water Safety and Ground Tackle
The vessel is equipped with comprehensive safety systems appropriate for offshore and remote-water cruising. An 8-person Plastimo life raft provides emergency evacuation capability, certified and maintained to current standards. The ground tackle has been upgraded with an Ultra Marine 45-kilogram anchor plus 200 feet of chain and 150 feet of rode—a robust setup that inspires confidence when anchoring in variable bottom conditions across the Caribbean and Bahamas. An additional 100-pound ultra anchor provides redundancy and options for different anchoring scenarios.
Power and Performance
The Fountaine Pajot MY6 is powered by Volvo Penta diesel engines, with the extended warranty through July 2027 providing meaningful peace of mind regarding propulsion system reliability. The 24-knot cruising speed balances fuel economy with reasonable passage times, while the 30-knot maximum speed provides capability for running ahead of weather or making good time when conditions and schedules demand it. The catamaran hull form, with its shallow 4.25-foot draft, enables access to anchorages, rivers, and shallow-water cruising grounds that would challenge deeper-drafted monohulls. The Northern Lights 12kW generator, with 535 hours of operation, provides independent electrical power generation for air conditioning, watermaker, and hotel loads, supporting comfortable living while at anchor without relying on shore power. This capacity is sized appropriately for the yacht's systems and the tropical cruising environment where extended anchorages and remote locations are common.
Tender and Water Activities
The Highfield GT360 30-horsepower Yamaha tender represents a significant upgrade from base tenders, offering genuine offshore and exploration capability. The tender's size and power enable extended excursions to nearby islands, shallow-water exploration, and even independent cruising when the mothership is anchored. The addition of underwater lights and a Garmin transducer integrate the tender into the yacht's overall electronics and entertainment ecosystem, while the transducer enables sonar capability for shallow-water exploration and fishing. The hydraulic platform and transom stairway facilitate seamless water activities, from casual swimming and snorkeling to diving operations. The platform's reliability and ease of use encourage regular water engagement, a key element of the cruising lifestyle.
Condition and Maintenance
The vessel's bottom was painted in September 2025, indicating recent attention to hull maintenance and antifouling protection. The LLC ownership structure and extended Volvo warranty through July 2027 suggest professional stewardship and confidence in the vessel's mechanical systems. The yacht has been cruised locally in Miami and the Bahamas for day trips and overnighters, with no charter history, indicating use consistent with private ownership rather than commercial operation.
